A slogan is the easiest way to make a show plate yours. It's a short line of text under the registration – the name of your build, your club or crew, or a line that makes people smile at a meet.
Where the slogan goes
On a road-legal plate, a strip along the bottom edge carries the legal markings: the British Standard mark and the supplier's name and postcode. A show plate doesn't carry those markings, so that space is free for your own text.
The slogan sits centred under the registration, sized to fit the space. If your plate has a border, the border breaks neatly around the text.
Choosing a font
The registration stays in the standard plate font, so the plate still looks like a proper number plate. The slogan can be in a font that suits the car, with a range of styles to choose from:
- Clean and modern – simple sans-serif styles for a factory look
- Wide and techy – stretched, squared-off lettering for modified cars
- Sporty – slanted, bold styles for performance builds
- Stencil and block – heavy lettering for off-roaders and military-style builds
- Retro and script – rounded and handwritten styles for classics and show cars
- Marker and graffiti – hand-drawn styles for street builds

Slogan ideas
- The build name – what your mates already call the car
- Car club or crew – great for matching plates at meets
- Engine or spec – a short spec line under the reg
- A show or event – plates made for a particular weekend
- A gift line – a nickname or in-joke for a car-mad friend
Keep it short. A slogan of a few words is easier to read from across a show ground than a full sentence. Our builder allows up to 30 characters.
The rules
Show plates only
A slogan can't go on a road-legal plate. The law only allows the registration, the legal markings, an optional national flag and identifier, and an optional border. A plate with extra text is a show plate and must not be used on a public road. Drive there on your legal plates and swap when you're parked. See show plates.
What we can't print
We won't print a slogan that looks like a legal marking. That means no British Standard mark, and no supplier's name or postcode – including ours. A show plate must never be mistaken for a road-legal one.
Keep it friendly
We won't make anything offensive. That also matters at events, where organisers can turn away cars with offensive plates.
