Replacement number plates range from a basic printed plate to premium raised 4D characters. Here's what you'll pay with us, and what makes the difference.
Our prices
Prices are per plate, including VAT. A pair (front and rear) costs less than two singles.
- Standard 2D printed: from £12.99 per plate, or £22.99 a pair
- 3D gel: from £21.99 per plate, or £39.99 a pair
- 4D acrylic: from £24.99 per plate, or £44.99 a pair
- 4D gel: from £29.99 per plate, or £59.99 a pair
Delivery is £3.99 by Royal Mail Tracked 48, or £8.99 for express Tracked 24 – and standard delivery is free on plate orders over £50.00.
What affects the price?
- Lettering style. Printed characters cost least. 3D gel adds a domed resin coat to every character, and 4D characters are individually laser-cut from acrylic, so they take more material and time.
- Character depth. 4D comes in 3mm or 5mm – deeper characters give more shadow and presence.
- Size and shape. Short, hex and large rear plates are made to your registration and may cost a little more.
- Extras. Borders, flags and identifiers, and fixing kits.
- Single or pair. Most people replace both plates so they match; a pair is better value.
Cheap plates can cost more
A plate that isn't road legal can mean a fine of up to £1,000 and a failed MOT. Be wary of very cheap plates that don't ask for your V5C and ID, use a stylised font, or don't carry the BS AU 145e mark and supplier details. Read Number plate fines in the UK for what to avoid.
Which should you choose?
If you just need a replacement, standard plates are the most affordable. For a premium look, 3D gel vs 4D compares the two raised styles side by side.
The easiest way to see the exact price is to design your plates in our builder – the price updates as you choose each option, and you can rotate your plates in 3D before you order.
